"First time experience renting a cottage for my family of seven. I was looking for a very tranquil waterfront location to sit back and relax while enjoying family time and nature. The Captains' Den was perfect and in fact, we loved it so much that we have already booked a week next year! Inside there was lots of room for everyone to spread out; the kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of dishes, pans, kettle, microwave, etc and great to have washer and dryer to do several loads of clothes to cut down on packing. Outside: swimming and the dock (I was glad I had my water shoes but the others did okay without them), canoeing to near by islands, paddleboat, quiet walks, sitting on the beach after dark looking at so many stars, the hammock that everyone took turns curling up in, plenty of outdoor chairs and several loungers, large fire pit (which due to a fire ban we will have to wait until next year to enjoy),barbeque with propane, eating breakfast on one of the three decks overlooking the water, our host offering a catamaran sail which several of our group accepted and thoroughly enjoyed. Our hostess and family were very welcoming and we enjoyed meeting them. Next year, if we can drag ourselves away from the cottage, we will explore Keji and the ovens. Anyway, I could go on but if you love peace, quiet, tranquility, you can't go wrong staying here."

"The Captain's Den is a well-appointed cottage in a stunning setting. We visited for a week in August and were met with fantastic weather and almost no bugs. The cottage is perfect for families with everything you could need for a relaxing break. Ute and her family were always on hand if we needed anything and made sure to provide a few extra touches to make the kids comfortable. From swimming in the crystal clear lake, to relaxing on the private beach and floating dock, to canoeing to Little Brother Island - we couldn't have had a more relaxing time. We are already planning to return soon. Captain's Den was one of the best cottage rentals we have had yet in Nova Scotia. We can't wait to return!"

"Fantastic property, fantastic location, and fantastic owner. We (family of 4) had a wonderful time at The Captain's Den. My first comment on entering the cottage was that is was even better than the photos. The cottage itself has everything you need, and we especially loved the hammock under the main deck. The lake is very quiet, and our boys loved swimming off the float. Ute and her family were extremely welcoming. We already started discussing our plans to return on the flight home, I can't imagine a more perfect spot to spend some quality time with the family."

"Our week at the Captain's Den could not have been better. Absolutely top notch cabin, in the middle of a beautiful wilderness, on the edge of a great lake, with so many activities to explore. We would not hesitate to recommend the Captain's Den, and look forward to when we can return."

"The cottage was beautiful, very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay at the Captain's Den, with a full week to retreat and appreciate the quiet sounds of the forest and the lake. It is a beautiful location."
